HB 342 (2R) - High School Accreditation

This bill prohibits public higher education institutions from using accreditation status of a NC secondary school as a factor in determining admissions, loans, scholarships, or other educational activity unless the accreditation was conducted by a state agency. Civitas believes the conservative position is to limit the influence of arbitrary accreditation agencies on important higher education admissions determinations and instead, to focus on the quality of the student applying by assessing factors such as grades, difficulty of courses, extracurricular activities and other relevant factors.
