House Bill 1080, Revenue Laws Recommendations, would make several mostly technical changes to North Carolina revenue laws.
While there are many provisions, most of which would have minimal impact, one provision of the bill overshadows all the rest and makes this a bad bill.
Section 7.4 includes a provision to extend the sunset for the Job Development Investment Grant program (JDIG) from Jan. 1, 2021 to 2030.
For years, Civitas Action has repeatedly opposed crony programs that direct taxpayer dollars to politically-favored corporations. There is no place for politicians to pick winners and losers in our market economy.
Instead of extending the JDIG program, North Carolina legislators should be ending it.
As long as this provision is included in HB 1080, Civitas Action will grade the bill.
Civitas Action believes a vote for freedom is a vote to oppose HB 1080.
Civitas Action will grade any votes on this legislation in the House or Senate.
