Senate Bill 636, Donor Privacy, protects the privacy of individuals who contribute financially to nonprofit organizations from government overreach. Civitas Action believes the vote for freedom is a vote YES on SB636.

The “Cancel Culture” phenomenon has underscored the need for First Amendment protections. This bill ensures that state and local government agencies cannot compel nonprofits to release the identity of their donors unless specifically required by state or federal law. This prevents state or local government entities from overstepping into people’s freedoms of speech and association.

Civitas Action believes that people should be able to give to the nonprofit, church, or charity of their choice without fear of government-mandated public disclosure. For that reason, Civitas Action believes the vote to defend freedom is a vote YES on SB636.

Civitas Action will grade the Second Reading floor vote on this legislation in the House or Senate.
