Civitas to Grade Vote on Corporate Cronyism Bill – SB505
Senate Bill 505, Rural Job Retention Act, would expand eligibility for the Jobs Maintenance and Capital Development Fund (JMAC) and grant an additional $15 million of taxpayer money over ten years to the program.
This bill is a clear example of corporate cronyism and highlights the problems with corporate welfare programs more broadly.
Programs that give away taxpayer money to handpicked corporations open the door for corruption and political favoritism. They also distort the free market, propping up some businesses on the taxpayer dime and leaving their competitors at a disadvantage.
Civitas Action believes government should not pick winners and losers in the free market. Across the board tax cuts are the only fair way to provide support to our job-creating businesses.
Civitas Action believes a vote for freedom is a vote against SB505.
Civitas Action intends to grade any vote to regarding SB505 in the House or Senate.
