House Bill 807 modifies the Site Infrastructure Development Fund as a reserve in the Department of Commerce. The use of this fund is restricted to attracting either a manufacturing employer investing at least $100 million or a sports championship employers investing at least $5 million. Bringing sports championships to the state is not a core government function. This program is built on cronyism that will direct taxpayer dollars to politically-favored corporations or sports organizations. There is no place for politicians to pick winners and losers in our market economy, and sporting championships are not a core government function. The vote to defend freedom is no.
