Because the General Assembly chose to include different budget policies in the 2015 budget bill, Civitas Action did not grade the budget bill as a whole. We have chosen several important policies to grade separately, eliminating taxpayer support for the Hunt Institute is one of those policies.
Eliminates taxpayer support to the tune of $737,230 for the Hunt Institute at UNC-Chapel Hill, a highly partisan organization known to feature far-left speakers. Directing taxpayer funds to such a politicized organization is not an appropriate use of taxpayer funds. Eliminating the taxpayer subsidy for the Hunt Institute is considered conservative.
