House Bill 218, Broadcast NC House of Reps Sessions, requires that the public have video access to the daily legislative sessions of the North Carolina House of Representatives. The legislation also requires that selected sessions of public importance be broadcast by the UNC Center for Public Television and that all recordings be archived and made available for access on the General Assembly website.
An informed public must know how their government works. Transparency and understanding are enhanced by allowing the public to view the legislative sessions of the House.
